Inspiration for interior design

Our vision is as follows: the colorful and cozy interior at the school will contribute to a positive change in all of us: students and teachers alike. By introducing a new learning environment and bringing the colors of nature into the classrooms we are hoping to help staff and students to aim for excellence not only academically but in all aspects of their lives.

That’s why we chose the theme of our project “nature” and named it “The Four Seasons”. Nature brings peace and affection and gives creative impulses.

In keeping with our vision, the design of each floor is connected with nature – a different season – spring, summer, autumn, winter, because each season has some kind of beauty and touches our emotional perceptions differently. We also wanted to link the Bulgarian traditions with the natural circle of life.

On the custom designed wallpaper we included a brief information about the most important holidays, which are a central part of the folklore calendar of the Bulgarian people. By providing this information, our hope is that the students will remember the main Bulgarian rituals and start to take part in our routine celebrations, and build a sense of pride in their belonging to the Bulgarian culture and folklore.

Project description

First floor – Spring

The first floor will accommodate Y1 students

The world of these young kids is full of fabulous characters and marvelous fantasies.

The selected images in the lobby are from the spring folk calendar – Annunciation, Easter, Lazarovden.

The texts contain positive messages and confirmations.

Fruit and vegetable wallpaper is placed in the dining room. Associated positive messages provide further information

about the benefits of vitamins and minerals.

Curtains made of paper flowers and butterflies are also used in this design.

On the other side of the lobby we built a cottage with a window and a door. The roof creates a feeling of a three-dimensional house.

Beside the door is a mailbox, in which the children can post hopes and wishes.

Second floor – Summer

From the Summer Folklore calendar – Pavlyovden, Enyovden, Petrovden, Golyama Bogoroditsa

We created shelves to hold students’ favorite books.

Also in this design we made curtains out of flowers and cranes (birds).

In the corridors there are positive messages and confirmations.

This floor will accommodate Year 2 and Year 3 students.

Third floor – Autumn

The photo-wallpapers in these rooms are of a fairy tale theme. Autumn is present in the corridors – the sparkling yellow walls, the multicolored autumn leaves on the windows, the outline, which has autumn motifs passing all along the corridor, on this outline or frame we have included some motivational quotes and messages.

In the lobby there is furniture made from recycled pallets, where children can rest and talk during the breaks. There are shelves with children’s books and magazines.

In the foyers there is information about the national folklore customs Petkovden, Faith, Hope and Love, Krastvden. The rooms are decorated with flowers and herbs, which the children themselves planted and grew. This is intended for Year 4 students.

Fourth Floor – Winter

This floor will accommodate Year 5 and Year 7 students. The rooms are used as dedicated classrooms and the relevant wallpaper contains specialized information on the different subjects. The corridors have a dedicated space for the most characteristic winter folk holidays – Nikulden, Ignazden, Christmas and Voditsi.

Classrooms

Each room has its own individual photo wallpaper.

On each wallpaper are written positive affirmations and also some subject related information.

The first three floors have photo-wallpaper with fairy-tale characters.

Rooms on the 4th floor have special wallpapers, depending on the subject being studied.
