“Quick! Quick! Come and see!”
“Did you see the magical city?”
“And the mysterious castle?”
“Did you read what’s written here?”
These are comments heard from the rooms and corridors on the third floor of Lyuben Karavelov Primary School. Children with gleaming eyes and smiling faces rumble into each room to see everything. Joy and excitement are in the air. The “culprits” for this joy are the people from the LightSource Charity, represented by Mrs. Albena Spurling.

Yes, magical! Climbing up the stairs to the third floor lobby, you instinctively want to continue on the alley in the autumn park. It is so real, the sense of autumn, fresh air and tranquility. You want to sit on the bench, listen to the silence and sink into it. Orange, red, yellow, brown – beauty. Autumn fairy tale! The sight as if moving itself from wall to wall. In the foyer, every photo wallpaper speaks of autumn. We see the basket full of ripe apples, a bouquet of autumn leaves, among which red haws, hazelnuts, walnuts … These photo wallpapers have surrounded the retreat where children will sit in the minutes of rest. The teenagers and their teachers prepared the tables and the sofas for this corner.
On each big-screen photo paper is written what every child thinks of our school: “I love my school!” There is also brief educational information about the most important holidays of the folklore calendar of the Bulgarians. Autumn is also present in the corridors – the sparkling yellow walls, the colourful autumn leaves on the windows, the frieze with autumn motifs running along the entire length of the wall. On this frieze motivating words and messages are written.
We open the door to the first classroom. The walls have the colour of autumn-yellow. The first thing our eyes see is the inscription: “I love the whole world and I’ll put it in my heart!”
Yes, love for the whole world can also be expressed by saving only one tree. Maybe what’s on the photo wallpaper. The theme of nature conservation and how important it is for us is present in this room. The children will gain knowledge of the value of the trees and will understand why they are so important to the life of the Earth from the information on the wallpaper.
We enter the second room. A mysterious castle, lit by sunlight, appears to us. It seems to hide something! The words written around him prompt the children to discover the secret. But that’s why they have to embark on adventure, dream, fly, reach, and create their fairy tale.
In the third room we are in a magical city. Perhaps this is the city of the future! Its light blue sky seemed to spill over the walls of the classroom. The feeling is that one is there, high up in the blue sky. Sense of harmony – man and nature. A feeling that nature is home to everyone. The written messages are related to this harmony and the necessity for people to protect the nature.
Going into Room 303, you can hardly suppress your urge to run and help Jack to get on the rock. But you know he does not need one. People who believe in miracles, who are not afraid of the unknown and love adventures, do not need help.
The sunny yellow on the walls and the autumn forest on the photo wall reminds one of autumn. An enormous open book on whose pages a magical piece of nature was placed, the mysterious house with the dwarf in front of her called for a new adventure, a new incredible story.
From the next room, we seem to hear horse thunder. The power, the beauty, the confidence that emanates from the white-tailed unicorns of the wallpaper, tell the children what the message implies: “The world loves the successful ones!”
The fairy tale, the magic continues in the next room. You stand in front of the photo wall and wait for a beautiful princess to climb the stairs of the palace any moment from the carriage below. The beautiful arch tells kids that the biggest secrets are hidden in the most unexpected places.
Adventure again! In the first literature room you are asked to sit on the grass with the Little Prince and ask him what is the best thing that only the heart can see?
The books are open in the other two literature books. What do the children read about? It is obviously very interesting because they are transported. Again, magic, again adventure, but hidden in the books. The positive words and affirmations written on the wallpaper are motivating: “People stop thinking when they stop reading.”
“Books are friends. Unscrupulous, but faithful.”
Everything on the third floor of Lyuben Karavelov Primary can be described by the words: magic, beauty, light and a feeling of autumn. The autumn morning on 15th September kids will cross the threshold of these classrooms and will be happy. They will cope more easily with the difficult lessons, they will be better and more relaxed, more confident and more skillful. They will believe in themselves and will realize their dreams with ease.
They will seek strength and wisdom to live truly, meaningfully and worthy. They can love and forgive, seek and find, believe and excite, dream and create, see the world … with their hearts!
