The Five Elements – Aleko Konstantinov

We all live on planet Earth. Each of us breathes Air, receives energy from the Sun, drinks Water, and is part of the infinite universe.

The subject of environmental protection is hot topic nowadays, we all know what damage causes the pollution of air, water and soil.

Melting ice caps and glaciers could lead to catastrophic changes for life on Earth. Teaching kids responsibility for nature conservation is important task to all of us. Our mission is to cultivate in them that inner resolve to live consciously on this planet to honour each element and to take care of it.

There is nothing more wonderful than educating children to be aware of their inner individuality and to feel as a part of the whole at the same time.

So The branch for first graders “Aleko Konstantinov” has chosen the theme “Five Elements” for which we created a visually magical interior space to resonate with the world of the small children. Every room presents an element and is painted in the appropriate colour for the element, the door has the name of the room on its glass – Water, Earth, Sun, Air, Cosmos.

Going inside the classroom Water, children will enjoy the bright blue painted room with a large colour photo wallpaper filled with fairy-tale characters that swim in the vast ocean. The benches and the blinds in the room are in navy blue, which also represents the element Water. The door of the room we made a blue glass which reads Water.

By removing the numbers of the rooms and giving them names, we hope children to build a positive emotional connection with the classroom. To love it, to enjoy spending half the day in it.

Each teacher was actively involved in choosing what to be included in the image of the panel – inspirational thoughts, positive affirmations and aesthetically integrated learning information for the element.

Images of nature with magical characters, flying horses and fabulous cities which give children a relaxing and positive atmosphere and a feeling of warmth and tranquility. In this way we try and reduce stress in first-graders from changing the home environment and allow smooth introduction to the learning process and easy remembering.

We placed a wallpaper in the cafeteria  with lots of fruits and vegetables in the shape of a heart, which reminds children to live healthier by eating more high-vitamin food.

The lobby of the school will welcome you with great images of The Little Prince, that reminds: “The real things are seen with the heart, not with the eyes.”

The school visual environment vibrates with incredible magical magnetic beauty that invites children to love their school and learn with pleasure.
