I love my school

Theme: ‘I CAN FLY’

Why we chose the theme ‘I Can Fly’

Flying is a symbol of unlimited possibilities and free choice.

All images, symbols, colours and ideas incorporated into the new interior design have been carefully selected and well thought out to reflect the main theme. Every single classroom, school corridor and foyer is full of extraordinary vitality and magic.

We hold our breath as we enter the lobby on the first floor. We are welcomed by smiling children and sunflowers painted in fantastic purple and bright yellow.  A purple ray of light slips through the window and with a twirl, it blends with shades of yellow reflected in the children’s eyes. Colourful plants and various useful herbs, grown by the children themselves, show their little heads from shelves painted in purple.

Friezes can be seen on the left, on the first floor. Exquisite butterflies fly in front of our eyes, symbolising love and prosperity; we see unique bees that are a symbol of the magnificent perfection of nature and little ladybirds – symbolising good luck.

Fictional characters peek from the classrooms of year 1 and 2 students. We find Jack staring at the sky with the belief the magical beans will take him up and high in the sky, into a better world.

Next is Peter Pan, flying over the Earth in blue euphoria. There are no impossible things for him because he knows that only people with great dreams can fly.

The Book Fairy has also snuggled up modestly to Jack & Peter Pan, helping the youngest and taking them to the Realm of Knowledge.

We open the door to the fourth classroom and pay tribute to the Little Prince’s wisdom and sensitivity. He teaches us about the important things in life: ‘And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye’.

We walk further down the corridor on the first floor and we are mesmerised by the magical power of white unicorns and flying fairies – some of the most beautiful creations of human imagination.

Fascinated by magic, we climb up the stairs and without realising where we are in space and time, we find ourselves on the second floor. There is a wonderful corner for us to stop and take a short rest. We sit down to enjoy the unique greenery that calms our senses. On the right, a playful grid, looking like a jewel, shapes the sun’s rays that are gently stroking the flowers. Little mischiefs smile at us, flying on their magic world on wheels.

We take a breath and continue down the corridor. Here is the Kingdom of Birds. They symbolise hope, positive transition, revival, morning, spring, sunrise, diligence, homeliness, father’s inheritance, freedom… Once again, we bow in gratitude to the diversity of nature that has created a perfect symbiosis between plant and animal world. We get information about different species of birds, some of which we see for the first time.

A beautiful nymph from the first classroom on the second floor, wrapped up in mesmerising turquoise magic, teaches us that ‘Beauty is in the small things and in the hearts of great people’.

We continue our journey along the corridor and hear the terrible thunder of fiery horses’ hooves and unicorns living in the second and third classrooms. Quite naturally, the message they bring to us is: ‘We are strong inside and out’.

We find what makes us feel calm and full of joy in the fourth classroom. The message the beautiful photo wallpaper sends to us is to enjoy today because today is a gift, yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery.

What would life of people be without the pure human virtues of kindness, trust and sharing? I can only imagine how happy all children will be to enjoy the beautiful moon and divine blue sky on the fantastic illustration in Classroom 5.

And who said that people cannot fly!? Children fly like birds in the next room because: ‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams!’

So we now feel like the little boy from the famous Legend about happiness. The lad was given a teaspoon that held a few drops of oil and the wise man asked him to wander around the palace, without allowing the oil to spill. ‘The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never to forget the drops of oil on the spoon.’

We keep walking. What an incredible sky blue colour! The third lobby is painted in blue and yellow – the colours of summer, sea and sun … The children have created a place for relaxation and rest. There is a big screen opposite where they will be able to watch educational films, listen to music for relaxation and enjoy being with friends during breaks between classes.

We walk along the corridor in exciting anticipation. We find ourselves in the great vastness of Space. We dive into the abyss and realise we have encountered the greatest mystery. Before us is an astonishing view – children are stunned and amazed by the huge planets that shine amongst a myriad of small and big stars. Now we know for sure, kids do want to fly on the wings of their imagination!

Classrooms for teaching different subjects are located on this floor. The beautiful Bulgarian Spring seems to come to life in the first classroom where Bulgarian language and literature are taught. In this amazing lyrical setting, children will learn a lot about great writers and poets who praise the beauty of Bulgarian nature and the courage of Bulgarian national heroes.

Maths is taught in the second room. Who said children didn’t like Maths? See how many formulas and playful, colourful numbers decorate the walls! Mathematics is not boring. On the contrary, symmetry connects it with harmony and beauty.

The next room is a kind of window to the world. Here is the kingdom of foreign languages. They will help children learn about foreign cultures and traditions, get to know the world from outside and inside, communicate more easily and become part of a diverse world.

Then you find the classrooms where history, geography and ecology are taught, each classroom being more welcoming and more attractive than the other. Here children will become part of the past. They will get to know the world and the rich ecological culture. They will learn one of the most important lessons – everything is related to everyone!

The Project ‘I Can Fly’ creates a dream school that allows children to believe in their dreams, understand who they are and what they really want to become! We hope they will grow into good, capable and free individuals – happy and satisfied with what they create!
